Auction Template Help

Don't be overwhelmed!  Once you insert all 8 of your URL's for the auction template; you'll never have to do it again!  It's easiest to save one html document with the auction URL's inserted; and the shipping, payment, and contact info all typed up.  That way when you are ready to sell; all you have to do is edit the description, and product photo URL.  It may seem overwhelming at first; but you can do it!!

Step 1
Open your template html text by double clicking on the file.  It should look like the below picture.

Step 2
Scroll down to find the first sentence that is in all capital letters.  For this example, we are using "INSERT YOUR DESCRIPTION BACKGROUND URL HERE"

Step 3
Next you need to obtain your description background URL.  Do this by opening up the webpage that is hosting your photos.  Click on the description background image to view.  Right click on the photo and choose "properties".

Step 4
A pop up window will appear as shown below.  Highlight the photo URL by clicking at the beginning, and dragging your curser to the end of the URL; then let go of the mouse button.  The URL should be highlighted as shown below.  On your keyboard; press the ctrl button, then the letter C to copy the URL.

Step 5
Go back to your html document and highlight the sentence: INSERT YOUR DESCRIPTION BACKGROUND URL HERE (as shown in step 2).  Do not highlight the quotation marks.  Next, press the ctrl button and the letter V to paste the URL into that area.  It should replace the sentence with your URL as shown below.

Step 6
Repeat steps 2-5 for the rest of the 7 URL's.  After you finished adding all your template photos; save your html document as a new file by going to: File>Save As...

Step 7
When you are ready to sell an item on eBay or any other auction; you will need to type in your product description, shipping info, payment info, and contact info.  Open up your revised html document and scroll down until you see "TYPE YOUR DESCRIPTION HERE".  Replace this sentence with your description.  Do the same with shipping, payment, and contact.

Step 9
Next you will need to add your product photo(s) to the template.  Upload the photos to your server or picture trail.  View your first photo and copy the URL as you did in Steps 3 & 4.  Go back to your html document and scroll down until you see "INSERT YOUR PHOTO URL HERE".  Highlight this sentence (without the quotation marks), then paste (ctrl + V) the URL in it's place.  You will also need to change the width and height of the photo in your html document.  Go back to view your photo, then right click and choose properties (as you did to obtain the URL).  The dimensions will be in the pop up window.  Insert the correct dimensions into your html document.  If you would like to add more than one photo; you will need to copy and paste the html that is provided in your directions document we sent you.  The image below shows a template with two product photos.  The highlighted html is the complete coding for one photo.  Go to File>Save As.. and save this file as a new document in case you would like to sell the same item again in the future.

Step 10
Now you are ready to sell!  Most auction sites (including eBay) do not charge to use a template.  When eBay asks for your item description; click on the "enter your own html" tab.  Go to your finished html document and highlight the whole document.  Press ctrl + C to copy the html; and paste (ctrl + V) into the description box.  Don't forget to click "preview your description" to make sure your html is working correctly.
